Mari Simmulson

Mari Simmulson born in 1911 St.Petersburg by estonian parents. She got her education as a sculptor and potter at the art academy in Tallin, Estonia,  and worked at Arabia during the 1930’s. As one of many refugees of WWII she came to Sweden in 1944. In 1949 she was welcomed to join Upsala-Ekeby – a company with worldwide reputation and prize winning design – where she became one of the trend setting designers with a vast production that lasted for 24 years.

Many items was not only designed by her, but also actually crafted by her hand and hand signed by her, this was not that common among designers. Mari Simmulson is represented at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
